Yup, This is the pen I associate with Venus ever since I saw the old ads for them.

Nice line variation when writing with that nib. Lookin' good.

The Venus President has a quaint old world charm and the Waterman ink too.
I quite like the pen's cap.

Did you 'sepiarise' that photo ?
Thanks Bogon. That is the way the photo came out of the camera. That is under my LED desk lamp that throws the white balance off on my camera phone.

One question: I am not familiar with the Venus brand but it looks awfully like an Osmia from the 1950s, when they were being taken over by Faber-Castell. Compare with the Osmia-Faber-Castell 884 or 883, for instance. Are there any connections between those brands?
    Thank you FP_GaF.

Let's see if I remember right. I believe Venus Pens were made by the American Pencil Co. My example I think is from the early 60's. Esterbrook bought them out in the late 60's and they later got bought out by Berol. Oh wait, Berol got bought out by Faber-Castell in the 70's so yes, there is a connection.

Huh, what a visionary company. They aligned their early 60s product design with the company that would buy them and their parent companies out a good decade later. We just don't have this calibre of leadership anymore...

But seriously, thank you for that information Ivan. This is very interesting. Quite a story.

It is my pleasure as well as Google's.

Today, I am using a pen that I cannot divulge just yet because it is a review pen. It's not one of my recently publicly received pens either.

been using my reform 1745. Had to widen the tines to fix some flow but now it's doing pretty well. The nib is enjoyably flexish.

I made mine extra wet. I will easily go through a piston full of ink in 3-4 days. Not sure how much ink it holds but seems fast for me.

nice. I recently was able to calm down a lamy nib I nearly destroyed with some dollar store emery boards and a grocery bag.

I pulled my Krone Killarney out of the box last week. Filled it with PR Spearmint. I haven't put it down yet. Also Stipulated Passport stub, and Parker Challenger deluxe with medium italic.

Yesterday I continued putting my reform thru its paces. also lots of safari action as I'm getting to know the organics studio inks.

making a special surprise appearance was my sheaffers no nonsense with fine italic nib, as I remembered it was loaded with waterman havana brown. After weeks sitting unused it wrote immediately with a nice sharp sub-1mm line. I forget how nice a pen it is for use. I got it free from a lunatic.

I'd paste links here but having trouble doing it from my tablet.

Well...I've got my VIsconti HS Steel, filled w/ ESS Registrar's Ink, My Pilot VP Black, filled with Pilot Black (that ink RULES ALL! Pilot makes the best ink I've ever used.) and my Parker Vac Jr filled with Diamine Crimson, for when I have to write bad things on customer work orders....like "Phone has been Liquid Damaged, no repairs possible..."
