Yes I have. I timidly asked for a few and they sent me 14!

So far, I have only tested the colours with a dip pen and found them to be very vibrant, but they tend to feather and bleedthrough. The Umber is the first to go inside a fountain pen. The flow is excellent. Given it's an EF nib, the feathering is not very obvious. There is still a bit of bleedthrough though.

    Same here.

I suspect the sharp point on my dip pen nib is contributing to the feathering as it appears to cut or damage the paper fibres a bit.

Some of the blues are going well in the pens I've loaded up.

I did some writing and much more doodling to break in my new Visconti Opera Crystal (with both the stub and fine nib) and Iroshizuku Yama-Budo ink.

And some notes and a letter with my Pelikan M600 Black & Blue (with a fine nib) and Edelstein Onyx ink.

Went down to the river early this morning to cut a couple of pieces of blackthorn, which I'm planning to make into a vintage Gillette razor stand, and I wrote a few lines while over there. Nothing of any odds whatsoever, it was random thoughts as they came into my head and was only to give my smallest pen some more writing. The Pelikan M300, when capped, fits my hand well and writes very smoothly indeed.

Although I've only tried a few notebooks around the A6 size, the Rhodia Webbie DOT is a fantastic pocket companion and the Edelstein Turmaline ink looks bright and friendly outdoors. A really enjoyable and relaxed couple of hours with the writing and some small stick cutting with my pocket knife.

My lamy studio has fast become my daily user, I barely pick up anything else. Second fill from my sample of Diamine Graphite. Which I am confident I will be buying a bottle of after Christmas unless I find something else in my packet of grey samples that I like better.

Hi Reprieve, how does the urushi finish on your VP compare with one of your Nakayas' Tamenuri finish? I always wondered.

    Hi!

I'm finding this a very handsome little pen. The quick bit of searching leads me to believe it is an edition/model that is no longer in production. Can you, by any chance, tell me what they called this color body? It's time for me to do some searching on auction sites and etc...

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jon,

It was a gift from my husband several years ago, and it did not come in the original box so I'm not positive but I think the pattern was called 'Forest Marble'. It's very beautiful material, writes well with slightly stubbish M. Hope you can find one!

Default I'm using a new arrival...

...my Pelikan M405 Black, M Nib, inked with Waterman Mysterious Blue. Bought from John at CFP and is my smoothest, best writing FP to date!

Took a quick and dirty photo with my cell phone this morning at my desk:

Hi Reprieve, how does the urushi finish on your VP compare with one of your Nakayas' Tamenuri finish? I always wondered.
You know, I have never thought about comparing them. They are such different pens.

The VP is beautiful, and warm to the touch, but it is a metal-bodied pen with a very modern look. The capless design and the clip and the silver trim along with the sparkly raden give it a kind of space-age look. The lacquer is deep and shiny and very well done.

The Nakayas, though, are another breed altogether. Their ebonite bodies feel lighter and more agile. Nakaya's lacquer is reminiscent of old porcelain or pottery; the tamenuri finishes have a certain hypnotizing richness that the VP doesn't quite have. The Nakayas feel handmade; they feel like works of art.

If I had to choose one pen, I would go with a Nakaya every single time. But the raden VP is lovely, too, and it has earned an almost permanent place in my rotation--because it's capless, it's better for quick note-taking and marginalia and editing (and hence the XXF nib).

    Thank you Reprieve.

Admittedly, both pens are outside my current budget and I need to save for a couple of months to get one, which can be challenging . I love my VP (a regular yellow one). So I thought perhaps if I buy the raden VP, it will cure my desire for both a raden pen and a urushi finished pen.

In light of your comment, I see that realistically no single pen will satisfy my desire for a urushi FP, not even a Nakaya, because I would want more than one anyway.
