Default Pelikan fan from North Carolina

    Hi!

I'm glad to be a part of this forum! My pen history is that I come from a fountain-pen using family, and have carried on that tradition since college (quite a few years ago). I have some vintage pens from as far back as my great-grandmother -- all of us in the family are actually still using many of these pens, and enjoying them. I also have a little group of new pens I use, some TWSBIs, a Kaweco Sport, and my nicest pen that I use everyday is a Pelikan M200.

I am not a collector as such, but am definitely an acquirer of pens I use as a regular part of my daily life. I am a member of some groups on FB, and am admin of one there called "Cheap Thrills: Fountain pens under $20" -- this is related to my love of getting cheap pens and regrinding the nibs -- I have made some nice italic nibs, and have done some broadening. In recent years I've gotten a bit braver about smoothing nicer pens' nibs. No ruination so far, and have pleased many friends with pens that write way better than their cost would indicate.

I am looking forward to being a part of this group. I am also hoping to find a beater Parker 51 -- I have my great grandmother's and I love the way it writes (still!) but there's no way I'm using that as an EDC...

    Thanks for having me!

    Welcome to the forum.

There are many Pelikan fans around here including myself. I am sure you will feel at home.

Best of luck with the hunting for another Parker 51. They are also very nice pens.

Welcome home. Pull up a stump and set a spell.

I have my mothers "51", a first year model. It has the Sterling cap and aluminum jewels and filler rod and is dated first quarter '41 which is the year Mom and Dad married. Here it is with a 1943 Elgin watch that was my Dad's.

We look forward to the time when the power of love will replace the love of power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace.

Hello! Depending on your location you might want to join the next Asheville, NC pen posse meeting - tentatively scheduled for mid January 2015! I'll post more info here as time approaches!
