    Default Issues with my Safari

Hey folks...Just trying to pick some brains.
I had my safari inked up with J Herbin Hematite Rouge 1670 (boy do I really like that ink!)
THe only problem is when I went to grab that pen (I use it daily) i noticed a buildup of ink at the top of the plastic right below the nib.
After further inspection it looked like it was seeping through the seem of the molded plastic itself.

Has anyone had this issue with their safaris?
Or is the ink simply too thick for this pen?

It could be the ink. I love it too and use it in my Lamy 2000 without any serious issues, but there is a little bit of nib creep. I imagine it could overwhelm a Safari, though I don't know why.

I think it's time to take the pen completely apart and give it a good cleaning.

+1 on that and remove the nib to give the plastic under that a good clean too.

Did that before I filled it...Used Perfect Pen Flush and all....
That's why I was confused as to why this would happen.

Then I thought it could be the thickness of the ink itself...

The ink is high maintenance. [yoda]Clean after every fill you will.[/yoda]

I think I read something about that ink causing a gunky build-up on nibs. I could be wrong, though. Give me a bit to see if I can find the post before you start hating the ink you love.

I got a sample of that ink and I can't decide if I like it or not. It's weird. It's red, but it has a strange green hint to it as well. Hmm...think that's why they call it Hematite? LOL

And here is one from a poster who mentioned something about the box saying not to leave the ink in the pen overnight (that makes for quite an inconvenience):
