Default Repair of a Sheaffer Vac Fill

Someone might find this information useful. I got a lot of help and advice from thefountainpencommunity.com members and I found a link to a Nathan Tardif video c/o one of watch_art's posts at FPN. The pen was in poor condition: the filling mechanism wasn't working, the plastic was dull, the clip and band were dirty, the section had deep scratches. The feed and nib were fine, thank goodness.

To repair the section, I used epoxy putty and Tamiya model paint (primer, paint, & top coat). I didn't and don't have access to the materials for, or knowledge of, plastics repair. So I decided to do what I could with the scratched section, which is similar to how toys and actually, dents in cars are repaired.

It isn't perfect but it works and it was a fun project. I've been using the pen with different inks (Noodler's Green Marine, J. Herbin Lierre Sauvage, some Diamine greens) and I've had no issues with the paint on the section.

Here were the links that were most useful to me:

    4) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkFxm...feature=relmfu (Long video on repairing 3 pens; the vac fill is the 2nd pen)

The pics aren't so clear so I don't know if the details are visible.

Came out nice. I have a similar project waiting on me to get the spare time to tackle it.
