What are your confessions as a fan?
Mine: I didn't mean to have a collection, I simple keep misplacing my pen; buying a new one to replace it, and finding the lost pen a few weeks later.

I can't seem to get rid of the pens I acquire. I like all of them for different reasons. The pens I end up releasing into the wild are extras, or I wanted to give one to someone who did not have that model, but I mostly end up collecting them. However, I am not going to feel guilty about keeping them. I do have the storage space for now.

Great idea for a thread! I'm going to steal this.
I am going to confess that I am kind of "meh" about Nakaya pens.
Sorry!

Yeah, I'm not really fond of demonstators either. My other heresy is that thus far I haven't felt much interest in Mont Blanc or Shaeffer pens.

I love my Hero 616s. They get used more often than My Three Montblancs.
My other pen is a Montblanc.
And my other blog is a tumblr!

I hate broad nibs, and I prefer cheaper pens.
I can tell where I'm not wanted.
Someday that'll be on my tombstone.

Three for me:
I am completely unimpressed by Montblancs - expensive and underwhelming to write with. I have my Dad's old one and I only keep it for sentimental reasons - I enquired about getting the nib changed and was quoted a price that was nothing short of daylight robbery. Even the assistant suggested thinking very hard about whether I really wanted to go ahead. I didn't.
I don't like demonstrators either.
I don't understand some people's angst over converters as a filing system. It's just a method of storing ink in the pen!!

I'm falling out of love with piston fillers. In fact, I'm falling out of love with any and all filling systems. I can't stop using my eyedropper pens.

I find that my 'have to have' pens has varied over time. I have come back to some of them, so, I guess I have some focus in collecting. Furthermore, there are some brands that I hate. Generally speaking, vintage pens attract my attention except for modern Pelikan's. The few I part with (I'm a horder) go to my wife or daughter.

Noooooo! a Nakaya is my grail pen. I'm just not sure which one yet.
It changes on a daily basis.
If they did a Nakaya x Bauhaus type pen, I would roll over and buy one.
2nd confession: I've never really cared much for Montblanc either. They're starting to just milk the brand and sell fragrances and watches.
Sometimes I pull them out just to be different.
As much as I don't want my montblanc to be the best I still use it as my favourite pen. I am a brand snob. I still keep my Wall Street LE close to hand though
I'm a vintage celluloid addict. Even if it's some third tier brand with an iffy nib, I'm strongly tempted by the prettier ones that come my way. Although I did resist one at the flea market just a little while ago.
Oh well, it's cheaper than a Nakaya collection. And there are some pretty good pens in there.

I dont have any real confessions. I have never experienced the top end pens and probably never will. My highest grade pens are a Pelikan 400 and a Platinum 3776 Century. But if you can expand the meaning of fountain pens to include dip pens I have a wonderful collection of very fine antique nibs which are just so beautiful to write with including the Musselman Perfection and a Gillott 604EF and a few wonder Spencarian and Esterbrook nibs. I prefer nibs that give hairline upstrokes and very wide flex that gives a wonderful thick down stroke. Also making your own ink from the Walnut crystals again is very satisfying. (Thanks again Jon Szantos for getting me into this) This has taken my interest off my fountain pens a little as I am trying to master Engrosser's script. But I am presently working through my various pens to recall the beautiful feeling this wonderful interest gave me.

Are the hairline and sumi finishes not sufficiently Bauhaus?
Actually, I'm not sure what a "Bauhaus pen" is supposed to look like. The only one I've heard described in those terms is the Lamy 2000, and its finish seems similar to the hairline and sumi Nakaya finishes, and hence my suggestion.
I must confess...I don't understand folks who bash c/c pens. After all, a piston filler is basically a pen with a permanent converter!
I have said it before and will say it again. A pen is a pen is a pen.
I like pens.

I've had ink flow issues with a lot of my CC pens. Supposedly, it has something to do with a small diameter of a converter and surface tension. This is why I hesitated to get a Japanese pen for a long time (almost all Japanese pens are CC). But now my pen collection (or at least the inked up part thereof) is very much Japan dominated. Some converters are better than others, and some inks are less problematic than others in CC pens.
Truth be told.......I'm turning into "Bird Man" (though NOT on Alcatraz.....!!)
My passion for Pelikans is growing slowly but surely.....
The M200 Cafe Creme "hooked" me!!!! A M200 Green Marbled is "flying in" tomorrow.....an M101n Red Tortoise and M800 Burnt Orange will be "winging" my way soon......
Already ordered a larger acrylic pen holder to accommodate the "flock"......
Alas, my "feathered friends" will have to "roost" until after the holidays....then, others will likely join the "nest"!!
"A funny bird is the Pelikan......"
Always try to get the dibs......on fountain pens with EF nibs!!
