Hi everyone, I have a P51 nib I suspect is gold but contains no date codes or the RU-PL code found on gold nibs. Pictures are below.

It's gold. Parker never made a gold plated nib for the 51 - all though the copycats may have.

No, it's 51. A 61 has a tab sticking up at the front end of the notch, and two wings on the underside and farther forward that grab the feed and keep it lined up.

penmaniac,
I have restore a two P51 Aeros with just RU , they were later Aeros.
Also seen just 95 where the date should be.
They were all genuine.
Never seen a fake P51 Aero nib in 26 years of collecting.

On the subject of P51 nibs……….
Can anyone tell me if they have seen an Arabic ( Hebrew ) nib fitted to later Aero’s that were made at Newhaven.
( I am sure that we all know that they fitted to VP’s and very early 75’s in three widths – Fine, Medium & Broad )
Or a released 51/61 nib with a perfect sphere tip ?
( it is perfect - polished - as in, finished at the factory - normal flex with the normal centre split )

Today I tried to photograph the nibs mentioned
I have two very expensive Nikons with outstanding Macro
The images shown are very average.
The Arabic ( Hebrew ) nib is a Oblique turned 45 degrees.
For want of better words it looks like a horse's hoof - the tip - top to bottom is alot longer than normal
I offer two images of the sphere nib against a standard Medium width.
