Default Manu Propria Pens - Raden Suisô

This is a pen I finished yesterday,
It is a "Suisô" Eyedropper, turned from Japanese Ebonite with a "Raden" urushi lacquer.
Mother of Pearl particles are sprinkled into transparent black "roiro" urushi lacquer.
After drying for one or two days some 20 more layers of lacquer are applied. Then the surface is ground flat to release the MOB particles.
Then a time consuming polishing process takes place. Transparent urushi is rubbed into the surface and removed completely with soft paper and hardened. This is repeated 6 times. This process called "uwazuri" is made to fill the micro pores of the surface. Then the surface is polished with the finger tips, fine polishing powder "migako" and rapeseed oil.

    Cheers,

    Martin
