Is an index card thick enough to use as a postcard? This is for U.S. Mail using 4" x 6" index cards.
I wouldn't think so. Most are pretty flimsy, and the paper is of low-quality.

I buy card stock from Staples to make photos into postcards. They work fine. I've never used index cards though.
I used to do postcard marketing with 4" x 6" index cards with no issues. Some will get "crushed" by post office auto-sorting machines, maybe 20%, due to paper thickness. If you go to 60 lb. cardstock [letter sized], you can find anywhere (Walmart, Target, Staples, etc) you can cut them in quarters and that is also Post Office friendly. I use index cards everyday with my fountain pen as my preferred note taking and sketching ideas method. I use exclusively Target brand of postcards 3 x 5 un-ruled. SUPER fountain pen ink friendly! About 85% of all ink I have tried on it doesn't feather. And at about $0.50 per 100 a great deal.
