I used a Rotring Initial on flights between San Francisco and London, and bought it specifically because it was supposed to not leak in flight. It never leaked even when not completely filled with ink, and wrote just fine during the flights. I used it both with cartridges and a converter. It has a stiff nib, is heavy, and also durable and very well made. The pen appears to be discontinued, but can be purchased on eBay and other online outlets for around USD 40-60. Montgomery Pens in the U.S. has them new (http://www.montgomerypens.com).
Here is a review, in case you find it useful:

Update.
Carried the Pilot 823, a Pilot Decimo and a Parker 51 vac, all in the Nock Lookout case, all inked before departure.
The two Pilots were just fine, but the 51 leaked through the nib end on all four flights (luckily I bagged everything before putting into the Nock).

Well bummer on the 51 vac. But thanks for the trip report and the air-worthiness report on the pens
Did you get much use out of your pens on the trip despite the leaky 51? (I generally take more pens than I need/use.)
What did you think of the Lookout?
The Lookout was very handy - it fits a pocket on my Osprey daypack perfectly, is understated and seems durable. The daypack will probably fall apart before it does!
I did use the pens quite a bit for keeping notes on what we had done/were going to do, but perhaps not as much as I expected considering all the other pressures on our time.
The shop assistant at Fook Hing Trading Co. looked unimpressed* when I pulled out the 823 to compare it in size to one of their MB149s. More or less the same length, the 149 is a bit fatter is all.
*(not that I was trying to impress, but I thought they may have shown a little interest in a customer's pens)

I guess pen shop assistants see a lot of pens. Maybe it was the 149 that bored him, not the 823.
I always take my Pelikan 100N on trips when flying because I never had it leak.

I just returned from a trip with 5 pens inked and 3 sample vials holding backup ink, and not a single smidge of leak on either flight. It can be done.

Well... it looks like some brave souls may carry their pens like this:
