Hot famous [insert object of desire here]...
No, not more "hot famous..." spam.
There was a discussion about how much heat is enough or too much. This is an example of where just a little heat can be too much.
Using my embossing heat gun to salvage a nib and feed from an altered section, I was startled when the threads simply sizzled and evaporated into smoke before the usual seconds required to release a shellac bond. I wish I had a video. Alas, the brass band under the added threads changed the equation. I have to wonder what material the penmeister used to turn those threads, probably vintage nitrous celluloid. No fear; a second penmeister had already performed a more stable repair on my 1929 long oversize black & pearl Sheaffer Balance, which thankfully was in another room.
So, when when you are thinking about getting involved with the hot (and maybe even famous), be careful.
