Anyone agree that Nick Stewart's "Randall" blue-black ink takes an unreasonably-long time to dry? It's wet! And to think that I've taken only two years to reach that conclusion.

Hmm... I haven't used that in a pen for quite a while. I don't recall it being that way, but I might mis-remember. I've had issues with Noodlers inks doing that, and it has always been when it has been in a pen for a while and evaporated out some of the liquids. People swear by basic Noodlers Black and it may be all that if in constant use, but I had issues with it being a smearosaurus and gave up on it.
Maybe mix up a bit with a little extra water, couple of drops, and see if it gets better?

Never used it. But if it's a highly saturated ink, what Jon says holds true. I've noticed that oversaturated inks dry better when water is added. Same goes true for Penman Sapphire and your favorite; DCSSB.

I only had a small sample of that ink and have probably only used it in the past as a comparison ink in reviews. I don't remember it being particularly wet but as it is highly saturated then that sometimes means a much wetter ink that takes longer to dry.
If the manufacturer has to use less water to make a more saturated ink, then it follows it will need more wetting agent....

I haven't used Randall. But in my experience most of Noodler's highly saturated inks, dry instantly. However, shading inks take for ever to dry.
Example. Kung Te-Cheng, Polar Green etc... dry very fast.....
Kiowa Pecan/ Black Swan forever to dry....
