I don't usually cross post articles from the blog here, but this is one I want to make sure as many people as possible see.




If there was ever a time to break out those fountain pens it’s now.

Danny Nickerson will turn six on July 25 and all he wants for his upcoming birthday is a box of birthday cards and if anyone can make that happen it’s the fountain pen community. Last October, Danny was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and it’s one of the most chemotherapy-resistant cancers. Between November and December of last year he has undergone 33 radiation treatments and is now getting chemo therapy every two weeks.

Doctors say that less than 10 percent of the children diagnosed with this type of cancer live longer than 18 months.

Danny has since stopped going to kindergarten and gets lonely from time to time. He is always happy to get cards with his name written on them, especially since he can now recognize his own name.

His mother, Carley, says Danny likes Lego and Super Mario.
