You can't (unless the seller says) but one good guess is that:
1. If the case is lined with something else probably okie
2. Pen case is made by fellow pen nerd.
3. If the case is made by a company that sells pens that doesn't what a shit-ton of warranty claims also probably okie
So Pilot cases, Franklin-Christoph cases, Visconti, MB, Omas, are probably all likely fine for example.
I bought a bunch of sexy looking local made pen leather sleeves and they ate the living fuck out of my plating in a hurry.
I have a Pilot Pensemble and Pilot Somes cases that are great. Some Franklin-Christoph cases that seem somewhat rough on the inside but so far seem to be fine and I am one billion percent sure they would not sell agressive plate eating leather.
I have a ton of Levenger sleaves that are also very good and have done nothing but lovingly caress my pens for years.
People who know shit about leather can chime in but I think it depends on how the leather is tanned.
