Hanomag Truck:
I've been admiring the efforts in the Inktober thread.
Although I don't have the skills to draw to an on demand theme, or to draw that well in general, I've been experimenting a bit with ink. For one thing, I have these drawing pens that have been around for a while, and I don't want to find that they have dried up when I finally do pick them up two years from now. And starting with ink, rather than inking a pencil sketch, seems to be good exercise in estimating proportions.
This one is from a photo of a homeless woman.
While this is meant to be the late French concert pianist Brigitte Engerer. I used a fountain pen for this one, an older Pilot Elite with an 18k nib. Not marked EF, but that's how it seems to me.
Neither one does justice to the lady herself or to the source photo, but I take them as another opportunity to practice and (hopefully) learn
"If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly."

This was done with Pigma Micron pens. Stippling/pointillism, took 48 hours to complete and my oh my, a lot of hand cramps.

Suzy, I've only just seen your recommendation for Seawhite of Brighton sketchbook and have been to Amazon to have a look at it. It's a sketchbook I will consider the next time I buy one. Thank you.
I love the Canson white paper I have. It's inexpensive and good paper. It's very thick and takes pencil and ink well, but the leaves are only glued at the top so they fall out and are basically just loose sheets of paper. If it was wire bound it would be perfect.
I currently have a large batch of loose sheets of paper that I've used for Inktober and don't know how to keep them somewhere tidy.

The latest deviation from my son, he created it as input for the deviant art creature week - wings challenge.

This was the first pointillism picture I every did, back in February. The Octopus above was my second attempt at this rather hair pulling art form! haha!
