@usk15 so glad to again see your father and daughter combo.
Kudos to your daughter. If I attempted to draw the Wave off Kanagawa at such a young age, I can guarantee that the result would be closer to what I'd look like after I got hit by *that* wave instead of a rendering of it.
And of course I like vintage vehicles, so your 1941 Indian motorcycle is just a treat.
I am not even attempting to go for it myself, it will be a mess! My daughter is very patience and work slow, methodical and has a keen eye for details. I can say for sure that my daughter (14) is better than me (48), just need to practice and carrying working.
Thank you for your kind words Will!

I continued with portraits this weekend:
For a slight variation on my usual submissions, I thought I'd show the kind of thing from which I frequently draw. I got it from this Pinterest page while searching for 19th century portrait photographs. https://www.pinterest.fr/pin/483925922453963131/
Still not as good a likeness as I want to achieve, but closer than some earlier attempts, which I won't show. But there are other technical issues to work on. This drawing is restricted to head and shoulders because of the small sketchbook that I was using. But some tries on larger paper presented me with another problem. I found it very hard to show the pleats and folds in her dress convincingly. One more thing to work on.

Still up to my ears in book-writing. Old stuff will have to do.
This was for a magazine, done on Bristol paper with a crow quill dip pen and India ink.
My other pen is a Montblanc.
And my other blog is a tumblr!
And my latest ebook, for spooky wintery reading:

An imaginary old tavern called "The Rusty Pipe".
Did this one for St. Patrick's Day (also an excuse to use a green pen and green ink).
M: I came here for a good argument.
A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.
M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
A: Yes it is!
M: No it isn't!
I don't know if it's original or not, but it came with the pen, and it fits the section.
If I wanted to replace it with a bigger nib, I'd have to replace the section as well.
More importantly, the nib's writing performance doesn't seem to be affected by the size, so I left it alone.

the outstanding clip design by Gerd A. Müller inspired me to some quick sketches:

daily doodling...
Imagine a quiet cove, where a few boats just lounging in the sun, waiting for their owners to take them for a sail ...
I just replaced the nib on the big Diamond Point because the potential new owner wants a Fine nib. Besides this nib fits a lot better than the one before.

I don't want to distract attention from the spammers, but here's an experiment I just tried.
Some notes:
- Like my last entry, this was based on a photo found on this Pinterest page. No idea who this is, but it's oddly fascinating. I wonder if it might be an actress in character for a role. The way her hair is mussed in such a carefully posed photo could indicate that. Or it could just be an odd 19th century style. And her face is interesting in any case.
- The experiment was in trying to draw across the fold between two sheets in this small A6 notebook. There was no need to do so; I was away from home but had a larger sketchbook with me. I just wanted to try this, and I had this little Midori notebook as well.
- I rather like the off white "ivory" paper.
- I used a Mitsubishi Hi Uni "F" grade pencil, the grade between HB and H. It's actually not a bad grade to draw with, I think. I mostly use HBs and 2Bs.

I love pencil art. I always found it to be very expressive for some reason.
Keep up the good work!
