The Three-C sandwich sounds really good. Any special kind of chutney?

The family favourite is one using dried apricots that my mum used to make. This is my first shot at making it myself as it happens, and it's been a nervous wait since last December to see how it would turn out. Thankfully okay. But any chutney you favour will fit the bill. Occasionally I've substituted coarse grain mustard as an alternative.

Early in the day yet, however:

I seem to keep waking up at 6am, which is excellent if I can keep it up until Sunday when the clocks go forward.

It's an absolutely gorgeous morning. The sky is doing its lovely red to blue gradient thing and there's an extremely picturesque radiant fog lying in the valley behind us. I expect the Lady of the Lake (or rather Reservoir) to proffer up a sword at any moment. Or maybe a four pack of loo roll...

There's enough milk spare that a bowl of cornflakes is a viable option for breakfast.

Absolutely. The Triple C is an equal opportunities chutney, cheese, and cucumber employer.

    From yesterday

    1.) It was sunny

    2.) It was warm-ish

3.) I got to ride my mountain bike and, while painful for a first ride after a sedentary winter, it feels good and did wonders for my post-winter / virus crisis isolation depression.

    1) It's rainy, overcast, and not too warm (~60⁰ F)
    2) Listening to the rain on the window in my Study with a very contented cat napping on my lap.
    3) After years of careful pen purchases to discover what is exactly right for my daily-use, I think I've finally found "The One."

That's a great-looking breakfast! Is that a baked potato? Usually I cut up our leftover ones and re-purpose them for breakfast by putting it all in the air fryer with a little oil, salt, and rosemary .

Ooo, you've got an egg. You lucky thing. Hen fruit are as rare as hen's teeth round here at the moment.

There is no way the humble Triple C can stand up to this must preparation and expectation. I fear disappointment.

    Another lovely day today.

Postcard from my li'l ol' widow lady to whom I write at least once a week, in which she sounds very cheerful and is making good progress recovering from a broken hip. Can't help thinking her timing is excellent for being laid up at home.

Made a batch of carrot and ginger soup for my dad. May need to turn the freezer into a Tardis in order to fit it all in though.

Sounds goooood! And thanks. But no, those are the last of the corned-beef-alongside potatoes (which were bagged as 'red' potatoes but were gold on the inside and turned all gold in cooking).

    1. Triple-C sandwich #2. We did not get to make the Traditional Spring Salad this year (cottage cheese, sour cream, radish, pepper, green onion), but at least this contains crunch and dairy.

    2. Made biscuits. They came out ugly (learned from this not to dump milk in all at once), but tasted goooood.

    3. Amazon stuff arrived.

Finally found the will to tidy up the guest room, resulting in lots of bags of stuff for charity and several bag of rubbish. Also resulted in flattening a load of electrical goods boxes that were kept in case of return, some of which are out of warranty anyway, and too many of which have already died the death. The polystyrene packing pieces in some of them were not one of the good things from my day.

While so doing, found a box of ping pong balls, a small pad of FP-friendly paper, and a book of sketches and illustrations sent in letters from Edward Ardizzone to his friends, none of which I remembered ever seeing in the house before. Very much looking forward to browsing the latter. Rufus is taking care of the ping pong balls.

The carrot and ginger soup, despite a tweak in ingredients, has met approval. Just as well, or I'd have had to be a Mysterious Soup Angel leaving pots of carrot soup on the neighbours' doorsteps...

1.) Ordered a new set of eyepieces for my telescope. I hope they arrive in time to give us a good squint at the new comet, ATLAS.

2.) Checked the larder; we are good for another two months.

3.) Found an old Sheaffer nib in a junk box. Tweaked it and flossed it and put it in a holder with a feed. It is a superb writer with a fine point and almost no tooth.

    1. Sun is finally out.
    2. Tuned my chain saw.
    3. Cut the rest of a river birch that’s too close to the house and ground the stump.

Overall, got to play with toys on a beautiful day.

1.) Telescope eyepieces arrived. I can read the ingredient list on the potato chip bag sitting on the desk in the fire house down the street. Now, I need a clear night.

2.) Meatloaf hash and black tea for breakfast.

3.) Tweaked the new dipper to write a stingy line with Blue Black Quink. It works well with the crummy paper I bought. Now I can use them to write drafts of new stories. I hope those paper manufacturers grow little horns on their rumps.
