I thought it would be both fun to see what others are doing and help inspire others to try new things. I posted in the Who's Participating thread about one way I am handling the notes that I am not mailing. http://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread....ll=1#post15278

I have another idea I will post, when I have completed it. (Hint: it involves several feet of paper)

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is doing.

I posted this somewhere around here already. A while back I asked Dr. Brown for his autograph and I received this in the mail with gold powdered wax seal and all:

Then one day last year FPN crashed and we got a lot of FPN refugees signing up. The topic came up and somehow I got Lloyd's autograph.

Love the photo Bohemond76, esp the books in the backdrop. Please tell me that was where you wrote those letters.

*coughs* well the desk used to be the desk on which my dad made his homework on and came back from Belgian Congo somewhere in the sixties. The books are my private collection of 18th century books I found on Ebay and flea markets. I just love the look...they are damn cool no? My letters I write on the dining table actually as there is more room. The desk you see there is in the living room and serves more as ornamental decorum.

Hehe, well it is rather cool to look at, especially the books. I don't blame you for writing on the dining table though, sometimes we need a lot of space. I wrote on the floor earlier as I needed space for 7 pens.

Didn't think I would have time to write these during the week but can't mail them till Wednesday, when I hope to find a friendly post office without lots of people. 7 Letters, 14 sheets of paper. Time to start sealing them in.

Tomorrows mailing will be more modest. 1 through the post to a local address and one dropped off in my companies interoffice mail. I like surprising people.

Wow they look great, would love to receive a letter with a seal! Mine are frankly poor compared to those works of art.

I wouldn't call them works of art but keep an eye on your post (2day + overseas travel time), cause one of them is headed your way.

be carefull with such seals as those machines at the post tend to shave them rigth off. I had a letter like that arriving at my place all smeared off

There is nothing worse than a shaved seal. They just don't look right without their whiskers.

Thanks for the warning. I use the envelope's adhesive to keep them closed, before I apply the seal, when sending through the mail.

At Barnes & Noble, I found a set of Victorian-ish Valentines. The box calls them "gift cards", but they are small notecard size, and seem to tolerate fountain pen ink. With the small size, you are not obligated to write much. 24 cards, $6.95.

As luck would have it, I received a short note and a photo from my aunt today, and I have already written her thank-you Valentine.

That's a good idea! I don't have a seal, just a chop and I haven't quite mastered the art of getting the entire thing to be seen.

    That's a neat find.

Fountain pens and postcards are possible.
(4x6 photo) + (HP Peel and Stick Photo Postcard) + Ink + (Packing Tape) = Weather proof postcard.

I did a water test where the Stamp would hide it.
    Postcard Blead Test.jpg
Noodler's Bad Belted Kingfisher, let dry (doesn't soak in), drop of water, let stand, rub in, wipe off.

Looks like it would work but to be on the safe side I covered my writing with packing tape.

Interesting colours black, white and tan/orange.

I'm using Noodler's 54th Massachusetts for all my envelop addressing.

One of the letters I posted on Monday ended up in my letter box. The PO didn't postmark the stamps or letter at all so I suppose I will just stick it in the postbox again.
