I did this mini-review of MI 41 sometime ago, but didn't have a chance to post it yet. Sorry for the photography. The photos were taken in bright sunlight which may make the ink look darker than it is.

When I looked at all of my teal inks, I found that it seems closest in color to Monteverde Iced Cookie and Ferris Wheel Press Bluegrass Velvet. Monteverde Iced Cookie does have lubrication and some sheen, whereas MI 41 does not. Ferris Wheel Press Bluegrass Velvet is close but seems just a tiny touch greener. Diamine Yuletide seems to have more sheen than MI 41.
Overall, I found the ink to be unpleasant to use in my finer nibbed pens because it is quite dry. It wasn't too bad in my broader and wetter pens. It does shade, particularly in broader nibs. But, I really don't care for how dry the ink is.

My initial thoughts on MI 41, more to come soon

Because I didn't find the flow particularly dry on Tomoe River paper I've tested it on some other papers. While lubrication varies with the different papers I didn't find the flow particularly dry with my Lamy M nib. I didn't notice any skipping or start-up problems and have written with dryer inks than this.

Like others I didn't like the ink in a medium nib. The sensation was unpleasant especially after the smoothness of 40. However, look at this writing sample with a wide fude nib on TR 68 gr paper...
The shading is massive..
I wonder if this is a GVFC ink....

I was playing around with mystery 40... This is the result of extreme dilution.
Quite striking isn't it?

Yazeh that looks amazing, did you just mix the ink with water?
Earlier after a medical call I was taking notes on printer paper with the same lamy I've been testing with and MI 41 and it felt almost as lubricated as 40 and was much nicer to write with than I talked about in my initial thoughts and also had ALOT of shading so paper really matters with that ink. (I wish I could take a picture but patient confidentiality, so I'm going to see if my dept has more of that exact paper and see if I can replicate the results)
Thanks

To be honest, my pen was having flow issues, so I ran it under the tap, I wrote a test line on Tomoe River Paper.. This was the result....

If participants need more evaluation time for the Mystery Inks, I can extend the reveal date. Otherwise, it will be done on Saturday 5 March.
All the Best.

My mead five star testing went about as I expected, and I will still do a sample with the printer paper I wrote on at my department
Thanks

It is now time for the ink reveals.
Mystery Ink #40 was originally to be used for the old Mystery Ink#36, when unfortunately I discovered it developed a very bad case of SiTB in the new unopened bottle. Monteverde Ink was informed of the problem and they promptly sent out a new bottle with a different lot number (and bigger size) as a replacement. I was attracted to this ink and color when I received a hand-printed thank-you card from Raegan at Truphae Pens. In a Broad or Italic nib, this ink develops considerable shading. MI#40 is Monteverde Wisdom purple.

Mystery Ink #41 is also an ink that has interesting shading and color properties with a Medium to Broad nib. Kirk Speer had sent me a note on Midori MD paper that attracted me to it. This bottle was purchased directly from Akkerman in the Netherlands, along with 3 other inks due to its scarcity here in the US. SBRE Brown (MI #37) was one of the inks purchased at the same time. The ink is cheap if bought directly from Akkerman and the shipping price is the same for 1 ink or up to 4 ink bottles. Mystery Ink #41 is Akkerman Dutch Masters Israels Zeeblauw.

I hope you enjoyed writing with this selection of inks. The next update for Mystery Inks will be in mid-May 2022, the Good Lord willing.
Stay Safe and Healthy!
PS-- I noticed that DrPenfection had used MI #41 in a very recent "Guess the Ink" post!

Thank you Junglejim.
This is my 3rd, Monteverde ink. I really liked it...
To think I always wanted to sample Israel Zeeblauw, and now I've got my wish. Thank you so much. You're my fairy godfather
Thank you, junglejim! I suspected the purple was a MV. I really like the color breakdown on that one. And I am always happy to get an Akkerman ink! 💐 🎉 🎈

Thank you junglejim, I think that is my first time with both brands, if all montverede ink writes as nice as that one I may have to add it to one of my wish list inks, and I'm sure I could find an ink that is about the same color and shading as the akkerman that maybe isn't as dry and feels better to write with although its not the driest ink I've tried
Thank you again for putting on this event and I'm very much looking forward to what is brought to the table next time
Thanks

Thank you junglejim! This was very enjoyable, and I really appreciate all the time and expense that you went to in order for us to experience and enjoy these inks!
This is going to sound very strange, but I had just receive a sample of MV Wisdom Purple from Vanness Pens at the same time that I received the Mystery Inks. So, I was pretty certain that MI 40 and MV Wisdom Purple were the same ink.

Junglejim, Thank you very much for sending these two mystery inks for us all to try. We all love trying them out and wondering what they are. As some believe that Akkerman inks are made by Diamine I will do some comparisons to see what the equivalent colour might be.

For anyone who is interested I've done some testing on Diamine inks to see if I could find the one that is closest to Akkerman Israel Zeeblauw. I'm confident that is almost identical to Diamine Eau de Nil.
