So back in December I went looking for a jeweler locally who could help me out with silver work and clips and whatever else. This guy has gone above and beyond all of that and has helped me build a bench, get it stocked up with tools, and is going to teach me everything he can to get me making my own parts and pieces.
Until then though, he's had a lot of fun making bits and pieces for some pens. I'll be bringing these three with me to the Arkansas Pen Show tomorrow and Saturday.
First up, the most recent. We made this yesterday, just picked some rods off the shelf and shrugged our shoulders. This stuff turned out to be some of the most beautiful material I've turned from my resin making friend Bob. Gorgeous stuff.
My jeweler, Allyn, took the pen and some solid 14kt gold, made a clip, a cap finial inlay, and a band at the section and barrel joint. This thing is hot.

The first thing he made up for me after we met was a clip made from Gibeon iron meteorite. Very cool looking stuff. The pattern in the metal is amazing. He didn't leave it at that. He put a diamond at the end of the clip! So cool!

He also put together an overlay for me based on a sketch I had made up. The clip and cap finial are his design. 18kt nib in this one.
