    I have finally replied to the last letter that I received in February.
    New conversations: Feb -> Now : Done
    Ongoing conversations: Feb 1 -> March 1 : Done
    Ongoing conversations: March 1 -> Now : {Laughing at me}
    If I only wrote 500 to 900 words each, I could make some real progress. Happily they are turning out more to be in the 1500 - 2500 range, thus the slowdown.
    So far this month; 21 in, 22 out, 66 waiting.

    5 Postcards, 10 Domestic Letters, 7 International Postcards/Letters (same postage)

    If you do the math for the stamps, please don't post it. I am trying not to pay too close attention.

    @silverbreeze if one of those penpals is me, don't worry. Currently I have a receptionist job every evening to help pay for field school and I just sit here. A long letter would be fun!
    Two out tomorrow morning and then I'm current as well!

    We'll see, it went out today with a .21 Lincoln stamp in addition to the .49 stamp. I realize that's a lot of stamps for a teeny letter, but one must expand the horizons of one's practical knowledge!
    So. The USPS attached my 3x3 letter to a half sheet that made it big enough to mail and sent it on to arrive 7 days later. This is what I received:

    If there had been a return address on it [there wasn't, I mailed it to me], it would have gone there with instructions to cut the instructions off and re-mail it without further postage.

    I'm grateful they did deliver it, but they took a lot of trouble to do so. Now I'm going to mail it to someone else and see if it gets there. Again- I won't put a return address on it and see if they'll do all the work.

    Further research...

    Letters both in and out have slowed to a crawl. But that's ok, I'm busy getting ready to relocate to OKC in a week and a half. Hopefully, I can get a few letters done on the airplane.

    For all your smug people with empty reply piles. There are plenty of interesting, interested, and lovely people hoping to get letters. They may have posted their address; towards the end of February, in a month that doesn't start with an F, or just after you finalized your list.

    Pick a few, welcome them to the group, and keep those pens moving.

    It also give you all something to do while you wait for me.

    I try to never pay attention to the cost of postage or I may cry! So far this month I have sent 16 letters (just checked the mail log) NOT INCLUDING two small packages I've sent. Eek!

    And after your last comment currently in the thread (about writing to new people because of an empty mail pile), I want to write more letters, BUT I know that at some point I'll get an onslaught of REPLIES to those 16 letters. Eek!

    Your a pro, you can handle it.

    {fast spoken, announcer, like at the end of drug commercials}
    Only if you want to, if life allows, your mileage may very, void where prohibited, common side affects can be but aren't limited to; joy, happiness, inky fingers, new connection, breaking out in friends, an odd gluey taste on the tip of your tongue, ... if you think you may have any of these symptoms, there is no need to consult your physician, unless they are also a pen person, then consult away.

    I did a super quick ballpark of the math (within a dollar), and it wasn't very much and that is from the perspective of a person not in good financial shape. But I won't say how much as requested.

    I managed to write three last night, and will post today. About 5 in the queue.

    ... And now that I'm back from the PO, three in.
