Re Enola Holmes 2
Yes, I did like it. I liked the first one, too. And I liked the Nancy Springer books the movies were based on.

I watched an old movie on utube. It came about in an odd way, but I'd recommend the movie.
It began with watching a short video of San Francisco street scenes in 1946-47.
Oddly, it had a beautiful woman prancing through the scene, completely out of context for the time and place. Comments on the video said it was Rita Hayworth and the scene was part of the filming of a movie. So I went looking for the movie.
The Lady From Shanghai was released in 1947. Indeed, it was Rita Hayworth --- and also co-star, Orson Welles loping down that street in San Francisco! So, I watched the movie, and it was marvelous for an old movie. Rita Hayworth puts to shame any actress working today!!! She and Welles were married (to one another) at the time the movie was made. Not long after this, Rita had an affair with a European playboy, ended up marrying him.

The Outfit is an unusual mob movie set in 1956 Chicago. Mark Rylance gives an amazing performance as the "I'm a cutter, not a tailor." Much of his performance is in close up, and his small expressions are immaculate.
The lies which make up the plot are continuous. It takes an effort to keep track (I failed) of who is lying, when, and what about.
For a small film, all basically on one set, there is a goodly amount of spurting blood.

Throw Down Your Heart, a musical documentary on banjo virtuouso Bela Fleck's trip to Africa.
He looked for traditional instruments that evolved into today's banjo. Some of them are pretty basic, others, crudely made but complex, taking a lot of skill to play.
The music recorded in villages is astonishingly great: huge groundlevel marimbas played by several people, intricate polyrhythmic percussion and singing. There are also some brilliant modern performers.
Most enjoyable film I've seen in quite a while.
Recapturing the Banjo is an album (not a film) by Otis Taylor with a similar theme: tracing the roots of the banjo.

Pinnochio / Del Torro... on Netflix
I never liked the original story, but I found this version the best, powerful, frightening and ironically very satisfying. Though, I would not show it to any child below seven, though maybe children nowadays are so blasé that they won't know the difference.
It also show the limits of movie ratings....
"In the Mood for Love" from 2000. Beautiful and moving.

A 1946 noir movie called "Decoy". While highly improbable, quite a fun ride.

Saw this:
Not good and hardly believable. Almost as bad of Christmas junk, mass produced on Netflix/ Hallmark...
Should I send you a condolence card for the loss of your entertainment time?
I saw "Metropolitan" from 1990. Meh...the acting wasn't very good. It reminded me of a pretentious version of the 1980's Rat Pack movies (Breakfast Club, St.Elmo's Fire, 16 Candles) with worse acting. It wasn't horrible, but I hoped for better. Maybe a younger viewer would have appreciated more.

I also saw written by Emma Thompson.
It's one of those rare films that starts bad, but gets better as it goes on with a nice, surprising twist...

This is so great !!
And right after it on FTA …Tim Burtons The Corpse Bride .
The Wolf's Call /Le Chant du Loup, a French film set in an alternate future in which a missile is launched at Europe and two French subs end up desperately at odds. Very high tension stuff. It shows how, in a situation that wasn't predicted, all the plans and protocols and procedures can turn out horribly wrong.
Netflix. French with subtitles.
